INSPIRED BY VENICE--found in Philadelphia,
at the BRIDGE + TUNNEL BIKE RIDE

Join us on Sunday, 14 October
, for this easy-paced 12-mile look at the structures and excavations that take us over and under rivers, expressways, trolley lines and more.

                                     A DesignPhiladelphia Event.

We will dive into the city's longest underground street, portage up and down steps, and ring our bells in dark, echoing, sometimes creepy tunnels.

MEETS at noon, 30th Street Station, 30th and Market Sts., south side. Starts promptly at 12:15. We'll stop for a snack, and have beers after at Bridgewater's Pub back at the station.

BRING: Your bike with sturdy tires, spare tube (even if you don't know how to change a flat--we will have a mechanic along), lights, helmet, camera, and bike bell. Come early to buy a bell and we'll put it on for you.

This ride is suitable for BROMPTON folder bikes.

Ride fee $5 ; RSVPs and questions -- please email info@trophybikes.com
with BRIDGE + TUNNEL in the subject line.

BAD NEWS: Philly is one of America's top city for bike theft.

GOOD NEWS: You can make it harder for bike thieves, as a graduate of Trophy Bikes' new THEFTPROOF YOUR BIKE class.

One of the great things about being a small business is being, er, "civic"... helping out with organizations and people doing good things....

SPONSORSHIP is the more or less accurate word for this activity.

(read to the end for sponsorship details!)

Some of the groups we are humbly supporting:

Neighborhood Bike Works (fun fact--NBW was co-founded around 1998 by Simon Firth and Michael McGettigan, via the Bicycle Coalition-- as Youth Cycle & Recycle)

Action Aids

Schuylkill River Park Alliance /  Runnin' on the River.

Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia

Bicycle Club of Philadelphia

Bike Philly (now sadly defunct--check with the Bike Coalition about the Cyclovia.

St. Mary's Nursery School

Julia R. Masterman School

Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby

Masterman Outdoor Frisbee Organization

Casino Free Philadelphia

American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon

Parent Infant Center

The Vagina Monologues at Penn

University of Pennsylvania Library Social

These groups all need your help to make Philadelphia a better, more interesting place to be in.  Please visit their websites and consider joining, volunteering or contributing.

thanks

GETTING SPONSORSHIP FROM TROPHY BIKES...
Some tips -- ask early. We like to get on board in time to get ye olde Trophy logo on programs, posters and t-shirts,--so as to selfishly swing as much PR out of our sponsorship as possible!

Come up with some numbers--tell us how many people are coming to your event, how long it lasts, when it started etc.

We generally DO NOT sponsor cross-country charity rides, as there are too many of them and we feel they are not that cost-effective.

We dig sponsoring bike events, especially if they can use non-cash help (see above about our non-trillionaire status).   We can provide skilled staff, portable sound systems, writing and PR, and various other things. Writing checks is a bit... suburban-- we prefer helping out in a more personal matter whenever possible.
