Sunday, 12 Sept. 7:45 a.m. at the Art Museum steps, 26th and Ben Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia
Hello, Brompton folder bike owners— join us at BIKE PHILLY— the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia’s big annual fundraiser.
Pedal 10 (or 20) car-free miles with 4,000(or 5,000) happy cyclists through historic old Philadelphia and beautiful Fairmount Park.
We’re hosting a Brommie Rally—a “ride within a ride” for Bromptons. Meet at the start – we will be gathering in the “FAMILY” staging area. Look for the British flag on an 8-foot fishing pole—flying from a Brompton, of course. We’ll ride en mass.
FREE, with prizes for the first, fifth, tenth and 20thBrompton riders to arrive—and Tastykake Krimpets for all Brompton riders.
PRIZE LIST:
First Brommie Rider gets the new History of Brompton DVD -- a full-length documentary about how a bedroom invention became Britain’s biggest bike brand and a worldwide design icon.
Fifth rider to arrive gets a pair of tires—choose from Brompton Kevlar, Schwalbe Marathon, or Schwalbe’s new Kojak slicks. Installation included!
Tenth rider to arrive on a Brompton wins a free tune-up from Trophy Bikes. The 20th rider gets a bottle of stout!
DRESS NOTES: We will be meeting many other riders for the first time, soproper business attire (jacket and tie, no lycra) will be appreciated—but not mandatory.
FINE PRINT:
Yes, you may bring guests who aren’t riding Bromptons—er, but they won’t win anything. Yes, they may have some Krimpets! We certainly would welcome attendance by those riding classic Raleigh three-speeds, Moultons, or Bickertons.
Of course, by taking part you note that bicycling can be hazardous, you agree to obey all traffic regulations and you agree to be solely responsible for your personal safety, and to hold any and all others harmless in any event whatsoever. You also agree to use a helmet and to make sure your bike is in good tune, as a condition of attending.
HELP US HAVE SUFFICIENT KRIMPETS!

This is a FREE event; BUT YOU MUST REGISTER FOR BIKE PHILLY to be part of the Brommie Rally. REGISTER BY AUG. 31 for best rate—NO DAY OF REGISTRATION.
BROMMIE YUMMIE third course! Sunday,19 September, NYC
Food, folders + fun in New York City 2.0
NYC designer Steven Huang (he created the T-shirt graphics for the Brompton World Champs and the Brompton US Championship) had a great idea—use Brompton Folders to explore NYC’s foodie-verse.
Steve's first Brommie Yummie was a blast -- a nice group of riders, and edibles from hand-made donuts to fish and chips -- with some riding to help burn them off! This will be the third episode--dessert, if you will of the Brommie Yummie series.
The Brommie Yummie Motto: Eat. Ride. Fold.
web info at www.brommieyummie.com
Interested?—This event meets at 12 noon at 27th & 8th Ave. (by the Fashion Institute of Technology courtyard). Steve will lead a ride around the city, finding some surprising street food, funky snacks and great meals. There will be an event fee, and it’s a pay-as-you-nosh experience. In the spirit of Independence Day, this BY will visit some typically American fooderies.
PLEASE RSVP to – stonefeather@gmail.com. (Please note: due to space and stylistic considerations—this is a Brompton-only event) Er, that means no Dahons, no Bike Fridays, no BSA motorcycles, just good old British-made Brompton folder Bikes.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE BROMMIE CLINIC?
It's quite simple.... 1) Bring your Brompton folder. 2) Have some coffee and scones. 3) Learn to perform some simple maintenance tasks that can add years to your B's life.
This easy-paced class covers flat repair (including getting that back wheel on and off!), gear & brake adjustment, chain cleaning & lubing--and more. Dress casual--this is a hands-on class.
We try hard to offer a good clinic--here's a recent review:
"... In spite of owning Bromptons for 7 years, I learned a lot about the Brompton's mechanical characteristics from watching your technique and listening to your entertaining insights; being in the presence of an expert has no substitute. The camaraderie and sharing of information that surfaced during the class was an unexpected bonus.
...I encourage anyone interested in Mike's next class to take full advantage of his expertise... It was certainly worth my while to make the trip yesterday from NYC..." --A.W., New York.
