SURLY Karate Monkey 29er - $1399 and up--IN STORE ONLY
SURLY Karate Monkey -- a 29er frame to complete implausible missions--riding a road bike over super-chunky terrain... making a tough, cushy hybrid commuter... handling an off-road/on-road tour. The steel frame, sus-corrected front end and tucked in rear wheel allow this bike to live multiple lives. Use huge--or not-so-huge--tires. Drops? Sure. Sweep bars and disc brakes? But of course!As shown here, built up to customer specs with flared WTB DirtDrop bars, disc stoppers, and rigid steel fork. Figure around $450 for frame/fork, 1200 to 2200 for a complete, sweet bike.
